FLAMENCO NIGHTS @ GALERIA WEST Gipsy Kings Tribute Concert with Pedro Cortes, Jose Moreno & The Cintron Brothers
The passion of Flamenco returns to the stage at the intimate Galeria West Art & Music Gallery venue, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. The popular monthly FLAMENCO NIGHTS @ GALERIA WEST event on Friday, June 10, 2015 at 7:30pm features an exciting special Gipsy Kings music tribute concert with accomplished flamenco artists; guitarist Pedro Cortes and percussionist Jose Moreno along with their special guests, the acclaimed Cintron Brothers.
These two talented brothers are natives of Spain and now reside in NYC. Born performers, The Hermanos Cintron exemplify all that is exciting and romantic about La Fiesta. Their guitars, vocals and melodies, set to enchanting rhythms, evoke the traditional sounds of their home country.
Popular around the world, The Cintron Brothers play a mix of World, Latin & Flamenco music and are also known as the greatest Gipsy Kings Tribute Band.
Their music is expansive, they sing with the souls of gypsies and will transport their audiences through a journey that moves them to dance, sing and cry.
Both Rafael and Cristobal showed promise at an early age and were encouraged to sing by their mother, Maria Teresa Laguna Santos. Rafael began singing his first harmony at the age of 8, Cristobal started at age 6, singing songs of Joselito. Rafael was highly influenced and studied guitar with musical greats such as Maestro Sabicas and Maestro Mario Escudero.
The brothers performed for 12 years at the Metropolitan Opera in "Carmen" at Lincoln Center. They play for audiences around the world, including Paris, Moscow, London, Chile, Rome, and New York City. Los Cintron have performed with a host of notable artists, including Gazpacho Andalu, Duende Camaron, Lito y Manolo, Los Canasteros, Sonia Olla, Ismael Fernandez and Barbara Martinez.
Teatro Sí and Mr. Cortes are thrilled to be able to bring to audiences this monthly evening of passionate flamenco performance. Along with special varied guest artists each 2nd Friday of the month, the experience reveals the pure emotional essence of this popular Iberian art form. Together they celebrate the expressive flamenco as it takes on a new character and exposes the audience to the warmth of the human spirit as expressed through the music. The artistry of the musicians and singers create a spectacle that is a treat for both the eye and the soul. Come experience an evening of Iberian gypsy culture with the cast of this captivating celebration! We recommend enjoying a fine meal or dessert before or after the show at one of several fine restaurants in quaint downtown Westfield, NJ. Event proceeds benefit programming efforts at TEATRO Sí, a New Jersey 501(c) 3 not for profit organization.
