The Tangential, a Minneapolis-based pop culture and creative writing blog, is infamous for its writers' oversharing about their experiences with everything from dogs to cheese to sex stuff (not all at once, usually). To celebrate the site's fifth anniversary, The Tangential's creators are turning oversharing into a live experience with audience participation!
Becky Lang, Jay Gabler, Katie Sisneros and other Tangential writers will share some of their most painfully honest confessions, and they'll invite audience members to jump onstage and overshare too with the most deliciously hilarious overshares being rewarded by popular vote. Every ticket comes with a free e-book copy of The Tangential's fifth anniversary humor collection, Sexts from the Sea.
About The Tangential: Since our launch in January 2011, nearly 1.5 million visitors have come to our site for everything from personal essays to social commentary to convenience-store roller-grill food reviews, and over 120,000 readers follow us on Tumblr. In 2013, Bascom Hill published our first book: Future Cities, a collection of short fiction. In 2014, Thought Catalog published our creative non-fiction guide to Minnesota, Bright Lights, Twin Cities.
About us: Jay Gabler (@JayGabler) is a digital producer at Minnesota Public Radio, writing and editing stories for the websites of The Current and YourClassical. He also writes about theater for City Pages.
Becky Lang (@leckybang) is a freewheeling freelancer who is part advertising creative, part journalist, part podcaster (Writingness), part blogger, part illustrator, part dog-mama.
Katie Sisneros (@katiesisneros) is a Ph.D. candidate in English Literature at the University of Minnesota. Her writing can be seen at Paper Darts and Revolver. She likes whiskey, history and outer space.
