Night In Oaxaca: 15th Anniversary Quinceañera
About Night in Oaxaca: The Mixteco/ Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) welcomes over 400 county, business, and indigenous leaders for an evening of traditional Oaxacan food and culture, as we raise needed funds to support the indigenous immigrant communities of Ventura County at our signature Night in Oaxaca event.
The Night in Oaxaca evening begins with a reception and Oaxacan craft market. We will have a salsa tasting table, which will feature a variety of Oaxacan salsas from red, to yellow to one that is made with ants! Dinner is chicken mole prepared by an 80-year old Mixtec elder. Our program features indigenous leaders, and culminates in the awarding of our annual scholarships for indigenous students pursuing college education. We will also have a live Chilenas band, and we will finish the night with the Dance of the Diablitos!
This year is especially exciting for MICOP because we are celebrating our 15th organizational birthday at the event! Come celebrate our Quinceañera with us!
