Two's for Tuesday! HAYLEY JANE DUO and MUDDY RUCKUS. Two duos mining the landscape of jam, bluegrass, indie folk and pop combine for one exciting evening of music at the Lizard Lounge!
MUDDY RUCKUS "Darkly Inventive Americana" - New York Music Daily "Driving, compelling songs" - Red Line Roots
The duo was twice nominated for the New England Music Awards and voted "Best In State of Maine" in 2016. The duo was included in Daytrotter's "Best songs of 2014". Muddy Ruckus has gone on to record three Daytrotter sessions over the past year. The band tours regularly and has performed several shows with other renowned touring artists, including "Family Spirit Reunion", "Elephant Revival" and "Dan Blakeslee" just to name a few.
Something Like Pleasure In The Undercurrents - by Sean Moeller, Daytrotter "There are some spots in the Mississippi River, right outside our front door here in Rock Island, Ill., where the bald eagles are finding their dinners these stark and nasty days of winter. They perch themselves in the sad, crooked limbs near the water and they keep a close watch on what's just below the surface. They swoop down and clamp when they see something they like. They never get under the water, down to the bottom. It's where we found Rock Island-native and Maine-dwelling Ryan Flaherty a few weeks ago. We dredged him out of that mighty river's cold floor, down where all the secrets and regrets are thrown from bridges. He lives beneath the surface, as the songs he writes as Muddy Ruckus show. He finds something akin to pleasure in the undercurrents there." - Sean Moeller, Daytrotter.com
Winner of the 2016 New England Music Awards - Best in State of Maine! "Duo's as handsome and restless as these have an irrepressible charm" - Dispatch Magazine "Infectious, foot-stomping americana tunes. Similar to the White Stripes in duo power. Muddy Ruckus delivers a full bodied sound, with nothing but guitar and suitcase drums." - The Sound
Hayley Jane and Justin Hancock This immaculate duo makes up half of the Boston Americana quartet Hayley Jane and the Primates and we are very excited to have them serenade us with their sweet sweet songs. Hayley and Justin have played regularly as a duo throughout Boston, performing alongside acts such as Ryan Montbleau and Dennis Brennan. Their stripped down set of guitar and vocals is a sight see and hear, with Hayleys powerful vocals blending beautifully with Justins guitar and harmonies. If you dont take our word for it, check out a video below of Hayley and Justin performing at the Lizard Lounge earlier this year and see for yourself.
