Farm Tour & Talk: Bill & Nicolette Hahn Niman @ BN Ranch, 6/11
The cattle and turkey are ready for our arrival! Come see this gem tucked along the coastline near Bolinas (just north of Stinson Beach).
This is a rare opportunity for an intimate slow stroll with ranchers and sustainable food advocates Bill Niman and his wife, Nicolette Hahn Niman. We will walk through their Marin fields at BN Ranch. Signed copies of Nicolettes book Defending Beef will be available for purchase.
SATURDAY, JUNE 11, 2016 11 - 1pm (plus lunch until about 2:30pm) $15/adult, and children are free
Whether you are a meat-lover or not, this is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about sustainable ranching practices in an intimate setting from two of our most informed and passionate advocates what is life like on a ranch where animals are responsibly raised (several heritage breeds) in a way that also stewards the land and the native ecosystem that ensures a healthier future for us all.
Travel from South Bay: Allow about 2 hrs for travel time from Silicon Valley. Attendees will receive map/directions and an optional caravan or carpool plan. Please stop for a bathroom break prior to arriving at the ranch to ease demands on the septic system. Thanks!
BYO LUNCH & COMMUNAL SALAD: Bring your lunch and beverages, and any favorite ingredient(s) you would like to add to a collaborative salad. We will provide spring greens, plates, forks, napkins, wine, wine glasses, and a few surprise local specialties to create the days shared salad and menu.
Book: Bring $20 (cash or check, please) if you plan to purchase a signed copy of "Defending Beef" by Nicolette Hahn Niman.
Bring hat, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, water, layers for irregular weather.
Options: After lunch, Ann Duwe has offered to do an impromptu tour of the area. She has a few favorite stops ...veggies, eggs, cheese, bread, oysters and such. During lunch, those of us who will follow Ann will decide on which spots to visit.
And, there is always the beach! Well, several of them ...coastal and bay.
Bill was our featured dinner guest at the Country Gourmet, Sunnyvale in January. 40 of us were at 4 tables, and Bill moved from table to table, having each of the 4 dinner courses at a different table with a different group. His presence is impactful, his words inspirational.
