Lily Be's "Noy Hay Mal Que Por Bien No Venga"
Free Street Theater is proud to present a workshop presentation of "No Hay Mal Que Por Bien No Venga" by Resident Artist Lily Be. Showtimes are June 2nd and June 3rd at 7pm.
About the show: When the world is telling you who you are or are supposed to be it's easy to lose yourself in the craziness. How do you find yourself when you don't even know you're lost? "No Hay Mal Que Por Bien No Venga" explores one woman's realization that WHO she is isn't as important as WHY she is. All it took was a graffiti artist, a box cutter, a slit wrist, and 7 days in a mental ward.
This play will be presented for a full run next year. In the meantime, get in on the ground floor of this brand new piece from one of Chicago's most exciting storytellers.
About Lily Be: Lily Be is a momma, a nanny, a friend, and a storyteller. She's a wise Mexican badass from Humboldt Park with a straight from the hip style of storytelling that has made her stand out in the storytelling community. She is the first Latina Moth GrandSLAM champion, WNEP Maelstrom champ, The Spotty Truth Late Night Storytelling champ, and host/producer of The Stoop at Rosa's Lounge. There is really nothing a bio can tell you about Lily Be that her stories can't do better. Her stories are featured on the RISK podcast and The Moth Radio Hour. "Own your story, tell your truth."
Lily Be on Free Street: Working with Free Street is a bit surreal. I am really excited to adapt my stories into plays and performance pieces for Free Street youth. Children and youth are our planets most valuable resource and Im happy that I get to work with them at Free Street.
