June 2016 LAI Luncheon
Pier 70, a 69-acre property owned by the Port of San Francisco on the Central Waterfront, is poised to become a vibrant new, mixed-use neighborhood, including new parks and renovated historic structures. At one time, Pier 70 was an active ship repair facility with tens of thousands of workers on the site on any given day. Today, Pier 70 is listed on the National Register as the Union Iron Works Historic District and is still home to the longest continuously operating ship repair facility on the west coast. Join us as we discuss the extensive community planning effort undertaken by the Port of San Francisco to inform the future of Pier 70, as well as the exciting rehabilitation and development projects currently underway by Orton Development, Inc. and Forest City.
Speakers: Byron Rhett, Port of San Francisco Jack Sylvan, Forest City James Madsen, Orton Development
