The June 26 Parlor of Mystery magic, comedy and mentalism show will spotlight parlor magic, standup comedy and mind reading demonstrations by seasoned professional entertainers, Steve Rodman, Kent Axell, Jim Vines and Terry Parrett.
Steve Rodman, a Long Island native returns to the Parlor by popular demand. Rodman who is one of Long Islands favorite comedy magicians puts a funny twist on classic illusions and provides a classy take on new magic. Rodman has performed around the world and opened for top musical acts. He was also the magic consultant for the hit Broadway musical The Wiz.
Joining Rodman and making his debut at the Parlor of Mystery is Kent Axell. Having studied magic, mentalism, misdirection, and psychology for over 20 years, Axell combines these skills to thrill audiences with unexplainable mental feats. Axell performs in his own monthly mind reading show 'Determined'. His work has been featured from off Broadway stages to national television including the Emmy Award Winning National Geographic program, Brain Games, as well as on New York One and Fox5. Kent also directs and performs in the highest rated dinner/magic show in NYC, "A Taste of Magic."
As a special treat sleight of hand artist, Jim Vines, will perform his award-winning close-up act. In April, Jim won first place in the close-up magic competition at the Canadian Association of Magicians. Last year, he won the Gold Medal in close-up magic at the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians. This is a rare opportunity to see an award-winning competition close-up act, close up, as it is meant to be seen.
The evening will be hosted by emcee Terry Parrett one of the originators of the Parlor of Mystery. Terry Parrett, is a magician, mentalist, author and professional hypnotist who has performed for audiences all around the country. He lectures for other magicians at conferences in New York, Albuquerque, Tennessee and Toronto and recently finished consulting on the feature film "Splinterheads".
The Parlor of Mystery's home is the South Shore Theatre Experience in Lindenhurst. It's the perfect place to experience parlor and close-up magic. It is small black box theatre with comfortable tiered seating for 45.
The Parlor of Mystery is one of many productions that take place at the South Shore Theatre Experience, which is located at 315 West Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst. The South Shore Theatre Experience is a non- profit organization that produces original works and theatre classics as well as conducting acting classes & workshops.
All tickets are $15.
Tickets are sold at the door, however space is limited.
