Trauma-Informed Practice Training
Cooperative Extension of Forsyth County, Auditorium B
Winston-Salem, NC
Share this event:

Target Audience: Licensed Clinicians, Clinical Directors and those responsible for Clinical Programming.

Scope of Training:
Exposure to trauma occurs at alarmingly high rates in children.  Traumatic stress in childhood can cause impairments in emotional, behavioral, physical and developmental functioning.  Furthermore, adverse experiences in childhood have been connected with illness, high-risk behaviors and death in adults.  An important tool for addressing emotional and behavioral concerns for children and their caregivers with a trauma history is recognizing how their experiences have impacted their beliefs about themselves, adults who care for them, and the world around them.  This training is designed to provide useful information to professionals working with traumatized populations and to get professionals thinking in a more trauma-informed way.

Learning Objectives:
Understand the different types of trauma experienced by youth
Understand how childhood trauma impacts child development
Participant in interactive experiences to help better understand trauma-informed practice
Assess their personal/agencys level of trauma-informed practices
Develop strategies to bring this practice to the next level
