Forty One Fifteen Presents: The Cowards Choir w/ Dean Fields
The Cowards Choir Dean Fields Doors 7pm $10
THE COWARDS CHOIR: Andy Zipf is taking a new name: The Cowards Choir. "It took me a few years to figure things out. I'm grateful for the time I've had to chip away at some edges. Now I'm ready to begin again." Zipf has always been committed to growth. He's taken that ethic to stages and street corners across the US, and has not gone unnoticed. Zipf's music continues to surface on network television and in independent films, and has participated in campaigns with ONE and To Write Love On Her Arms. Turning to the people, he has consistently utilized his fan-base to support tours, fund albums, and share his story via direct social media connection. Zipf rewards that loyalty with an unwavering commitment to creating music rooted in honesty. He gets on the floor at shows and sings from the back row. He turns the room into a cinema, coats every surface with colors and old film. Zipf doesn't believe in playing music, rather immersing the audience in it. He is constantly looking for ways to create an experience that taps into equal parts rock and roll and big tent revival. After a highly successful PledgeMusic campaign, The Cowards Choir released NAME THE FEAR in May of 2016. In addition to the album, there will be an accompanying visual score by Charlotte, NC filmmaker Will Davis of Small Creatures. Joining Zipf in this collaborative project are long time bassist/keyboardist Ryan Walker, cellist Dayana Yochim, violinist Alissa Moore and drummer/percussionist Logan Lamons.
DEAN FIELDS: Over 1000 shows, 10 years, and 200,000 miles have passed since Dean Fields went on the road to pursue a career in music. During that time his address changed from Richmond VA to Miami to Boston until most recently settling in Nashville TN. Now, he hits the road again to promote his most recent release "Any Minute Now."
His recent homecoming has found Fields selling out shows in Richmond VA, as well as nearby Washington DC. "Dean Fields writes lyrics like Leonard Cohen and sings like Jeff Buckley. It's no surprise that there's a serious buzz on this Virginia singer-songwriter." (Free Times) While continuing to feed his passion for music, Dean is fueled by a single-minded love to perform, sharing the stage with Willie Nelson, Old Crow Medicine Show, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, KT Tunstall, Blues Traveler, Rosanne Cash, Eric Hutchinson, Colin Hay, Bob Schneider, Auqualung, Hootie and the Blowfish, John Hiatt, Cake, Bruce Hornsby, Rusted Root, Madeleine Peyroux, Carbon Leaf, among others. In addition, Fields' maturity as a writer and performer is brought to the fore by some of the region's finest musicians. The band features members of Mandy Moore, Sparklehorse, Agents of Good Roots, KD Lang, Carbonleaf and Modern Groove Syndicate.
