Chef In the Garden
Tom Douglas Catering will again present GROWs annual Chef in the Garden evening on Thursday, July 14. Tom and Chef Alex Chan (who has worked with Tom since 2001, most recently as sous chef at the Dahlia Lounge and Lola) are developing the menu, and Alex will preside over the grill. Chef in the Garden menus emphasize locally sourced, garden-fresh ingredients and innovative flavor combinations.
The dinner and silent auction are held on the plaza of Seattle's Interbay P-Patch. Guests will be served hors doeuvres, wine and other beverages beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will be welcome to stroll and enjoy the gardens before they sit down to a multi-course meal at 7. The Chef in the Garden event, which is limited to 100 diners, raises funds for GROW: the non-profit advocacy organization for community gardening in and near Seattle. Proceeds from the event are used to support community gardens, including subsidizing the plot fees for low-income gardeners in Seattle's P-Patches and purchasing tools and seeds for their shared use.
