Trio Arkel Presents "Incanto"
Trio Arkel's second concert of the 2016/17 season is a sensual celebration of the Impressionist period, as well as a delightful foray into the world of chamber music with voice. Acclaimed lyric baritone Russell Braun joins us in Respighi's "Il Tramonto" and Debussy's "Trois Ballades de François Villon". The duo for violin and cello by Honegger and Debussy's one and only String Quartet in G minor, with guest artists Barry Shiffman on viola and Jamie Kruspe on violin, round out this feast of the senses.
Our concerts begin at 7:30 pm and are prefaced by an entertaining and informative talk given by Marie Berard.
TRIO ARKEL is the collaboration of three women at the top of the classical music world in Canada, each a soloist and leader in her own right: Marie Berard is Concertmaster of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra; Teng Li is the Principal Violist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra; Winona Zelenka is the Assistant Principal Cellist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Since 2008 they have joined forces to bring a wide variety of classical chamber music to the Toronto public, enlisting internationally renowned guest artists for a truly stimulating and eclectic musical experience.
