VCA Saturday School: Take a Line for a Walk
Class Description: This fun-filled, fast-paced, hands-on workshop will guide young artists through the process of transforming a colorful two-dimensional design-doodle into a dynamic 3-D paper sculpture. The class includes a brief introduction to abstract art and vocabulary terms. Students create a small folded paper sketchbook to collect their ideas and inspiration.
Instructor Jane Hastings: As a teaching artist Jane has developed a program that centers on art history and curriculum tie-ins to create exciting and unique lessons. Her main focus for teaching art is to engage the students in a variety of artistic experiences that allow them the freedom to explore, grow, create and question. With over 26 years of experience as a commercial and visual artist she is comfortable working in a variety of styles and media. Her work is anchored by the narrative and personal while exploring historic, surreal and universal themes. Jane has 5 years classroom experience as well as training in arts curriculum development.
