Paufve | dance presents BARE BONES
Bare Bones is an annual curated, low-tech performance series inviting choreographers to present new work in an informal venue in Berkeley. All shows include an informal reception to facilitate dialogue between artists and audience. An ongoing experiment in choreography and exploration, Bare Bones serves as a way to share resources and build community among artists and audiences, bringing new choreography to Bay Area audiences in an affordable, intimate setting.
This year Bare Bones features new solo choreography by the participants of Randee Paufves Solo Choreography and Performance workshop: From Gesture to Phrasework to the Dance. The evening is an experiment in individual choreography and presentation, featuring 14 solo studies ranging in theme and content. Please join us for beverages and snacks following the show. The evening includes work created and performed by:
Sima Belmar Alex Christie Ann DiFruscia Alexandria Griffith Zahava Griss Arina Hunter Eva Korpi Laura Marlin Diego Martinez-Campos Juliana Mendonca Peggy Murphy Courtney Spears Lisa Tenorio Jennine Warbington
"The overriding experience of Bare Bones was of an evening of dances for grown-ups. The intellectual and emotional relief of viewing work freed of pretension and liberated from cliché took me by surprise. It was the artistic equivalent of being engaged in a compelling conversation by very smart and impassioned people." --Ann Murphy, Dance View Times, May 2004
