Words Dressed & Undressed: Writing About Women & Clothing
Local author, poet, and playwright, Patrice Vecchione will present a multi-media production on the subject of women and clothing. She believes that getting dressed in the morning is the best armor against almost whatever the world may throw at a person. If you feel good about how you look when you walk out the door, youre more likely to make it through the day smiling. That may mean nothing more than a pair of jeans and bright red lipstick or it may require a little more ingenuitya Oaxacan huipil, purple stockings, and cowboy boots. Patrice has been enamored by attire and bucking against convention ever since resisting the boring Catholic School girl uniform she had to don during her formative years. Shell present an evening of work to delight, surprise, and make you want to get dressed up the next morning, even if just for the office.
Patrice Vecchione is the editor of many poetry anthologies, the author of two collections of poems and two nonfiction books, most recently, Step into Nature: Nurturing Imagination and Spirit in Everyday Life (Simon & Schuster). She teaches creative writing, poetry and collage to adults and children.
