God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza
Roadrunner Theatre Company continues its season of Broadway hits with Yasmina Reza's Tony-award winning God of Carnage, which will run November 4-20 at the new Alliance Performance Center of Tucson (APCOT) at 8892 East Tanque Verde Road. A comedy of manners only without the manners, God of Carnage tells the story of two upper middle class New York couples whose children have had a playground fight that cost one of them some teeth, and who meet for an evening of civilized discussion to work things out. Violence, they want to show their children, is never the answer. But violence along with rage, hysteria, confrontation, and the stripped-bare fault lines of two relationships and four human beings are what they show their audience, and themselves, in ninety breathtaking minutes. When the play opened on Broadway, the New York Times called it "a streamlined anatomy of the human animal [that] incites the kind of laughter that comes from the gut, as involuntary as hiccups or belching." Director Mark Klugheit, who has assembled a cast of actors well known for their work with many of Tucson's top companies, promises theater goers an evening filled with "Oh my God, did I just see that?" moments.
Tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com or through the Roadrunner box office (520-834-7884). Special discounts are available for seniors, military, students, and groups.
