Roasted Beans & Barley: Chocolate & Beer Tasting
18 Reasons Wednesday, July 25, 7-9PM, Tickets Roasted Beans and Barley: Chocolate and Beer Tasting $25 member price; $35 general price
All proceeds from this class go directly to our youth programming.
Dandelion Chocolate is back to help us refine our sweet tooth! This time bringing beer legend and chocolatier Pete Slosberg to help us out. In this class we will learn about the basics of creating chocolate and brewing beer- they are more similar than you might think. We will go step-by-step through the fermentation processes of both chocolate and beer learning about:
* Ingredients * Different types of chocolate (white, milk, dark, compound, 100%) * Process/artisty: -roasting (light/heavy roast) -conch (light conch, heavy conch) -temper (tempered, untempered)
Pete will have his chocolate chart, and we will taste through samples of white, milk, and dark to do a side by side flavor recognition comparison.
If we still haven't convinced you of the similarities we will have a beer and chocolate pairing to end the night. We will taste through Dandelion and Pete's chocolates side-by-side with different beers to reveal the beautiful complexity of both.
