DELTA HEAVY & RUN DMT
D-Ranged Productions and Headliners Ent. are teaming up to bring Delta Heavy and Run DMT back to Detroit!
Delta Heavy (Ram Records / London)
Delta Heavy are the most exciting duo to hit dancefloors since Chase & Status and Nero, although if anything their music is even harder and heavier, darker and more multi-textured. Having conquered the clubs, however, their newer tracks are becoming more song-oriented, pointing towards a debut album that will surely be hailed as one of the years best, designed to satisfy bass-heads and traditional music-heads alike.
Simon James and Ben Hall - met at Nottingham University in 2003 they zeroed in on the citys drum & bass scene spearheaded by nights such as Detonate and clubs such as Stealth.
Si was the musical one with the background playing instruments while Ben was the one with a penchant for sound engineering and a background as a DJ. It proved the perfect combination. After graduating, they wound their way back to London where they both acquired computer software. And, recalls Si, because both of us had the same interests in music, we thought wed align our knowledge.
After several years of hard graft, their debut release appeared on Vipers acclaimed Acts Of Mad Men compilation in June 2009. They had a cut on the Harry Brown soundtrack, followed by the anthemic Abort in June 2010, which received widespread recognition from the underground as well as support from the mainstream. They signed to drum & bass mogul Andy Cs Ram, label home of Chase & Status and Sub Focus, establishing themselves as credible newcomers with Space Time/Take The Stairs. The former was nominated as Best Track at the 2010 Drum&BassArena Awards while earning Si and Ben nominations for Best Producer and Best Newcomer DJ.
RUN DMT (Austin, TX / 4th Wall, Amorphous, Mad Decent, OWSLA, Dim Mak, Teenage Riot, Play Me, T&A, Evol Intent, Bad Taste, Heavy Artillary, Purple 5, Water Tower, Sumerian)
RUN DMTs sound reflects a torrid love affair with heavy basslines, thunderous beats, and haunting melodies. Formed in Austin, TX in the summer of 2010, RUN DMT approached heavy bass music without borders; touching on Dubstep, Drumstep, Trap, Moombahton, atmospheric Downtempo and more. In his short 3 year of history he has made high profile appearances at Electric Daisy Carnival, Coachella, The Vans Warped Tour, Camp Bisco, Nocturnal Festival, Wakarusa, Snowball Music Festival, and Counterpoint Fest . His original productions and remixes have become recent playlist staples for DJs ranging from Bassnectar to Flux Pavilion to Excision to 12th Planet and beyond. RUN DMT has also done official remixes for the likes of The Who (yes THE WHO), Major Lazer, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Diplo, Fitz & The Tantrums, Figure, and Hundred Waters.
In 2011, RUN DMTs first official release, Drop Top hit the top of the Beatport charts and remained in the Top 10 for six weeks. Drop Top was followed by a series of chart-topping EPs and a high profile inclusion on the Mortal Kombat video game soundtrack with Barakas Theme. RUN DMT capped off the year with a Mad Decent-released mixtape Year of White Rabbit.
In June 2012, RUN DMT released his debut full length album Union of Opposites, featuring Chali 2na, Dj Swamp, and Zeale, which hit #2 Dubstep and #11 Variety Charts on Beatport. RUN DMT closed out 2012 with a brand new 58-track, 140 minute mixtape, The Existential Mix.
In 2013 Run DMTs official remix of Major Lazers Jah No Partial was released thru Mad Decent/Downtown. 2013 also saw the release of his remix for Dimitri Vegas/Like Mike/Lil Jons Madness on Dim Mak Records. A new Self-Titled 8-Track EP dropped in July 2013 to press acclaim from Vice, Rolling Stone, Magnectic Magazine, Thissongissick, and many other crucial tastemakers.
Run DMT started off 2014 with a bang, releasing a highly successful official remix of Diplos Revolution, which snagged a high profile placement in the commercial for video game Titanfall.
