The New Old Time Chautauqua (NOTC) is holding a benefit for its 2016 Summer Tour. This year NOTC is working in partnership with Washington State Parks (WSP). NOTC will be collaborating with the nearby communities of these parks to bring new awareness to the many services, recreational activities and natural beauty state parks offer to their local communities.
The New Old Time Chautauqua is a traveling Chautauqua. What is a Chautauqua? Chautauquas are a part of the American fabric, a movement that started in 1874 that joins education and entertainment in order to deepen the bonds of community. Chautauqua is the predecessor to NPR and The TED talks.
NOTC was founded by the Flying Karamazov family in 1981 and ever since, for a month each summer, the NOTC has traveled to small communities bringing laughter, workshops, entertainment, and service to the towns and villages in the Great Northwest.
NOTC is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. NOTC is a group of 60+ inter-generational volunteers. There is no paid staff. However, NOTC provides each volunteer food and transport. This year we'll be traveling from July 12 until August 8, for four weeks. The costs for this voyage to 7 Washigton State Parks and their nearby communities are considerable.
To help NOTC defray the costs of this venture, we are presenting several evening benefits this Memorial Day Weekend.
This evening of Vaudeville in Anacortes is a great way to spend the first night of memorial day weekend. Please come to Brodiak Hall in Anacortes High School at 7pm on May 27, 2016 to be thrilled, to laugh so hard it hurts, to help promote community, and to support our wonderful Washington State Parks!
