FIDM Library Visit #2
Join the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles on a private tour of the FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Library on June 18 at 3:15pm.
Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, FIDM has been an active part of the California fashion and entertainment industries for nearly 50 years. Its library is one of the largest specialized fashion libraries in the United States and is noted for its specialized book and periodical holdings as well as for its Textile Design & Materials rooms, both of which give FIDM students hands-on access to innovative materials. The library also maintains a unique series of Special Collections housing 19th and 20th century fashion and interior design periodicals, unique and out-of-print books, original fashion sketches, and historical data on the California apparel industry.
The ADSLA tour will acquaint historic fashion, interior design and costume researchers with the unique resources of the library and offer tourgoers the opportunity to view the librarys holdings. In addition, tourgoers will be invited to see the Christie Romero collection of vintage jewelry on the second floor and the Mona Lee Nesseth collection of fans from the Belle Epoque era, currently on view in the FIDM Museum. (Please note, this is a tour of the FIDM Library only.)
