Fragments
For its fifth recital of the season, the Cheah Chan Duo is thrilled to present "Fragments", an afternoon of songs exploring the world of poetic fragments, haikus, and other short poetic forms. The performance will take place on Sunday, May 22, at 3:00 pm at the historic Church of St. Luke in the Fields in the West Village.
The program features Wolfgang Rihm's "Hölderlin-Fragmente", Claude Vivier's "Hymnen an die Nacht" (a setting of a passage by Novalis from his eponymous cycle of poems), Frank J. Oteri's "Versions of the Truth" (a song cycle of short poems by Stephen Crane which was written expressly for and premièred by the Duo in 2013), as well as the world premières of three songs ("Bells", "Two Haiku", and "from the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock") by Steve Holtje.
Advance tickets of $15 are available from fragments.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20 (students/seniors: $15), payable by cash or credit.
