Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is: Sarah Arnold, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Mary Kane, Emily Lindholm, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz Twin Cities, HUGE Theater, and Jesters. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, theyve heard the term "local music.
June guest: Mama Caught Fire is an all-female trio whose music explores harmonic intricacy, lyrical emotion, and the power of voice. Band members Abigail Tuominen, Molly Sowash, and Julia Hobart met as students at Macalester College through an a cappella group. In 2013, the three discovered their mutual adoration of folk and blues music and began creating and recording original music. The band performs in coffee shops, bars, and small venues around the Twin Cities.
