For the past 10 years, Toussaint Morrison has rested his laurels on a bed of poems he's already written. Over the past year, he's written an entirely new stock of slam poetry & spoken word, and is vehemently demanding he shares them with you, in person. His past work has been wrapped up in his first ever chapbook "Best When Sung From The Gutter"\ and will release Friday, June 3rd at the Bryant Lake Bowl.
Alongside Morrison will be his a cappella group of reformed bike thieves, Jimmy & The Threats. One of the few hip-hop a cappella groups in the country, Jimmy & The Threats harmoniously combines rap, beatboxing and motown soul-shouting into one arrogant jaunt of live performance. They drink, they're fun; you'll be offended.
Lastly, Toussaint Morrison's cousin, Evan Kingston, has been told (not asked) to introduce the master of ceremony for the night. Kingston has written several short stories, is a published writer, and has a master's in English... Toussaint is none of these.
So, join us for a night of slam poetry, a cappella hip-hop, short stories of bad decisions turned happy accidents, and the debut of Morrison's first chapbook "Best When Sung From The Gutter."
