There is perhaps no artist on the scene right now who has been so influential and transformational in shaping the modern gypsy jazz sound. What Astor Piazzolla did for tango, Gonzalo has done for gypsy jazz. Gonzalo is an artist that does not waste a single note; every tone, inflection, rhythm, and pitch bursts with emotional energy.
Gonzalo's raw sense for music is only paralleled perhaps by the other guest for the night, vocalist Laura Iyengar. Laura over the years has upstaged the biggest names in music all over the world! Like Gonzalo she has an instinctual sense for not just playing the notes, but finding those other notes that take a rare musical instinct, those notes that have more meaning and weight.
Finally the foundation of this group will be led by Colorado's own virtuoso Aaron Walker, and his quartet featuring Anthony Salvo on the violin, Luke Smith on rhythm guitar, and Gary Sloan on bass. This group, not even 6 months old, has already established itself amongst gypsy jazz players all over the world when they released their original compositions and arrangements on youtube. They are known for taking risks with the music and the performance that delight and entertain the audience all night. Aaron makes sure that the whole show is packed with entertainment and humor.
