CIF 2016 Improvised Jane Austen / Latchkey Kid
Improvised Jane Austen is a narrative, genre-based, long-form improv show inspired by the novels of our favorite authoress, Ms. Jane Austen (known for such works as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma). Written over 200 years ago, her novels social commentary, irony, and insight into human nature, are as relevant today as ever. In each show, we follow a protagonist through the trials and tribulations of being a female in 18th century England. Along the way we meet misunderstood suitors, meddling mothers, charming cads, suspicious soldiers, silly sisters, those pesky Frenchmen, and a wide variety of characters found in the world of Regency England. While we revere the style, wit, and storytelling of our Ms. Austen, we also delight in infusing her world with the absurd and the comic, using improv to heighten the comedy inherent in her work. Our shows are sharply-observed, emotionally touching, and funny as hell. Since 2009, the ladies of Improvised Jane Austen have graced the stages of various venues including: the Playground Theater, Chemically Imbalanced Comedy, Stage 773, Bughouse Theater, iO Theater, Donnys Skybox. Weve had the pleasure of repeatedly performing at The Chicago Improv Festival, The Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival, as well as the Chicago Womens Funny Festival, The Del Close Marathon and the Dallas Comedy Festival.
Latchkey Kid is a pHarm Improv Team from Loyola University Chicago, performing at pH Comedys Thursday College Nights in their new Andersonville location!
