Form 990: The Nonprofit Tax Return
The IRS requires all 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofits to file the Form 990 every year. This training will go over the purposes of the Form 990, and the legal compliance requirements, and penalties of failing to file the Form 990. The Form 990 is open to public disclosure for all non-profits. Therefore, it is important to understand what the reporting requirements are, why it is important and gain an understanding of what the IRS is really looking for on the tax return. The agenda includes the following topics: What It Means To Be Tax Exempt; Public Charity versus Private Foundation; Governance Policies and Disclosures; Compensation Reporting and Disclosures; Transactions with Interested Persons; and Top Form Mistakes.
