BLUE LIKE ME: THE ART OF SIONA BENJAMIN
Vibrant, vast, BLUESiona Benjamin is an acclaimed Jewish Indian artist, educated by nuns and Zoroastrian teachers, brought up alongside Hindu, Christian and Muslim neighbors. Most of her family migrated to Israel while she was a child, and she wondered, What is home? Now she creates art to answer that question. She paints blue figures who fuse Talmudic, Hindu and Islamic references with western pop culture. The film follows her on her journey back to her Bene Jewish roots in Mumbai, India. Her original art is part of St. Louiss Central Reform Congregation.

RAISE THE ROOF[;second film of double feature];
History brought back to lifeInspired by images of the mural-covered wooden synagogues of 18th century Poland--the last of which were destroyed by the Nazistwo artists set out to reconstruct the roof of the Gwozdziec synagogue using period hand tools and techniques. Working with 300 artisans and students from around the world for 10 years, the reconstructed synagogue roof is now the centerpiece of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. Beautiful to behold and buttressed by traditional klezmer melodies.
