Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training is being offered in Forsyth County on June 14 and 15, 2016 from 8:30am to 12:30pm on both days at CenterPoint Human Services in Winston-Salem.
YMHFA is an 8-hour educational training which introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, ages 12-18. This training will teach adult participants how to help a youth in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. YMHFA teaches participants how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social and self-help care. Participants will receive a certificate upon course completion.
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed for adults who interact with adolescents such as: teachers, school staff, coaches, youth group leaders, clergy, parents and non-licensed human service professionals.
