Touching, complex...13-year old Aharon, the only child of parents who have always wanted another child, wins the honor of carrying the Torah scrolls on Simchat Torah. Providing an intimate look at Sephardic Jewry, which includes the belief that he who carries the Torah may ask God for anything on behalf of others, Aharon hopes to elevate his status in the neighborhood and win his distant fathers approval and love. His achievement brings ancient tensions to the symbolic, touching, happy ceremony.
