Dixie Devils
An afternoon of New Orleans music with the Dixie Devils on Sunday May 8, 4-7 PM, benefit dinner/dance concert for the Community Center. Dinner and a no host beer/wine bar will be available and also special Cherry Blossom Iced Tea for Mothers and Others!. The Dixie Devils are Bob Ayres (clarinet), Kevin Burke (drums), Richard Karch (bass), Steve Paul (trumpet), Bill Adams (piano), Eric Wik (trombone), and Jan Jakob (banjo). Formed in 2007, the Dixie Devils band plays music from the early Louie Armstrong era. Many of the historic tunes are played at Mardi Gras festivals, and are named after colorful New Orleans establishments and landmarks, including: Mahogany Hall Stomp, Saints Go Marching In, Mardi Gras Mambo, Royal Garden Blues, St. James Infirmary, Avalon, Dr. Jazz, Basin Street Blues, Weary Blue and Millenberg Joys.
