Queens Dinner Club: La Flor
Chef Viko Ortega is a "chef's chef" who is as equally at home with the flavors of his native Puebla as he is with those of France and Italy. We're honored to have him cook for the second Queens Dinner Club.
"I mix Italian, French, Mexican that's one of my favorites a little bit of Asian", says Chef Viko Ortega who cooked with Chef Larry Forgione before opening La Flor 16 years ago. So it's kind of fusion. The dishes that you're going to find here you're not going to find anywhere else, I just love to play. Its me. Ortega's culinary playfulness marries French technique, local seasonal produce, and Mexican tradition resulting in truly unique, nuanced dishes that are as beautiful to behold as they are delicious to eat.

Appetizer (choose one) Garlic bread with St. André, parmigiano, and queso añejo
Mango-cucumber Jicama salad with microgreens, onion, and chile de arbol-lemon vinaigrette.
Entree (choose one) Pan-seared Atlantic salmon with crispy potato gallete, sauteed spinach, roasted tomato, and white wine caper-butter sauce
Pan-roasted New York strip steak with Abuela Rosaura's mole poblano, twice-cooked potato croquettes, seasonal greens with corn and truffle oil
