WHAT YESTERDAY'S BUILDINGS SAY ABOUT TODAY'S SAN FRANCISCO Speaker: John King, SF Chronicle
Despite all the cranes and the construction, San Francisco's landscape is still defined by the hills, the Bay -- and the buildings that have been around us for decades or longer, changing with the city even when they look the same. Join the Chronicle's urban design critic for a provocative look at how the old buildings reflect the new city, and what might lie ahead.
JOHN KING John King is the San Francisco Chronicles urban design critic, taking on projects that range in scale from the Transbay Transit Center to neighborhood infill and the newest parklet. Recipient of such honors as the International Journalism Award for 2013 from Lambda Alpha International, he is also an honorary member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. His latest book, Cityscapes 2: Reading the Architecture of San Francisco, was published in 2015 by Heyday.
