Vasari Singers perform a range of sacred choral pieces selected by conductor Jeremy Backhouse.
I was glad when they said unto me, we will go into the house of the Lord.
In early September 1966, I stepped into Canterbury Cathedral for the very first time as a raw Probationer in the cathedral choir. Both during my time with the choir - eventually becoming Senior Chorister - and in the years since, I have been glad and uplifted by my involvement with a place of such beauty, magnificence and spirituality.
Fifty years on from those first steps, I have amassed many really wonderful memories both as a chorister and as conductor of the Vasari Singers, with whom I have visited the cathedral almost every July since 1986. So it seems fitting that this concert celebrates a dual and very special association with this most glorious of buildings.
