STAR
AUTOMATA presents the world premiere of STAR, directed and designed by Los Angeles/Paris artist Katie Shook. STAR, a play for puppets by award-winning playwright Erik Ehn, explores the compulsion for revenge within the emotional aftermath of the Tulsa Race Riots. The piece features an original score by Erik Lindley. STAR is one of 17 new plays in Erik Ehn's Soulographie cycle, which looks at America's relationship to genocide in the 20th century in Tulsa, East Africa and Central America. The performances of STAR will inaugurate AUTOMATA's new space in Chinatown. AUTOMATA is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the creation, incubation, and presentation of experimental puppet theater, experimental film, and contemporary art practices centered on ideas of artifice and performing objects.
