Set in El Salvador, this black comedy follows Maria Elena and Mimi, two sisters coming of age during a bloody civil war. The fighting cannot stop these girls from exploring their roles as daughters, girlfriends, wives, and mothers. Meanwhile, their trusted-but-almost-invisible maid, Concepcion, reflects on their rites of passage and the state of their county with their dead grandfather, Don Mario. It truly is a mad, mad world.
