Antonieta Rivas Mercado
Manuel Acuña
Lucha Reyes
Jorge Cuesta

ProyectoTeatro kicks off TeatroLab, a series of performances under a new creative method devised to allow the company the opportunity to present experimental or in-development work without the time-consuming logistics of a mainstage production. Like wine in a box, these performances are spontaneous and make our hearts happy.

TeatroLab debuts with the staging of The Cliffs of Solitude: Suicide Prologue, an original piece written by our artistic director Luis Armando Ordaz Gutiérrez. This performance explores the last minutes before the suicide of various artists, that more than celebrities, were contemporaries and revolutionary souls within their times. These flawed characters bravely confronted their societal norms and unknowingly altered the future of their disciplines. Their deaths brought them peace, but with it came even more mystery surrounding their lives and the circumstances leading up to their end. This project emerged out of one question: Is suicide a demise or a pathway to freedom?

The Cliffs of Solitude: Suicide Prologue is only the first chapter of the final Project that will present in the fall of 2016. These 3 performances will focus only on four of the many sorties that will comprise the final work:

Antonieta Rivas Mercado
Manuel Acuña
Lucha Reyes
Jorge Cuesta
