The Gourmet Ghetto: A Taste of the Neighborhood
From Chez Panisse to the Farmer's Market and the food truck movement, North Berkeley is a playground for taste buds of all palettes. With a concentration of players like these, it's obvious why The Local Butcher Shop recently decided to open its doors on Cedar Street and why Off The Grid thought this area was perfect for its food trucks. Find out how the Gourmet Ghetto gained its reputation and how new businesses are continuing to shape the vibe in this neighborhood.
This public event will be moderated by Andy Altman-Ohr, Managing Editor of The Jewish News Weekly andauthor of Jewish food column "Hardly Strictly Bagels," and features a discussion with local panelists including Matt Cohen, Founder of Off The Grid, Monica Rocchino, Co-Owner of the newly opened, Local Butcher Shop, and Karen Adelman, Co-Owner of Saul's Deli.
The panel will be preceded by time for tasting delicious treats from The Cheese Board Collective and Saul's Deli.
Co-sponsored by the North Shattuck Association.
