Join us for an introduction to Plein Air Paint class, which will have you painting out in nature on the Centennial Trail under the instruction of Sue Rohrback. Plein Air is defined as a manner or style of painting developed chiefly in France in the mid-19th century, characterized by the representation of the luminous effects of natural light and atmosphere as contrasted with the artificial light and absence of the sense of air or atmosphere associated with paintings produced in the studio.
The Spokane Centennial Trail is truly a gift to our community. With its views of the roaring Spokane River, upon whose banks it runs, this opportunity to capture what you see in a painting is a unique way to learn, create and engage in something new.
Susan Rohrback is an established artist, having exhibited her work for many years in the Pacific Northwest. She has been an art instructor for Community Colleges of Spokane for the past 15 years and was the organizer of the Plein Air Paint Group for eight years. She teaches and is versatile in watercolor, oil and acrylic.
Don't be scared away! This class requires only an imagination, but no previous painting experience or background.
*Mirabeau Point was donated to INLC by Inland Empire paper Company and in 2002, INLC gifted this property to Spokane County.
