Miss Maybell & Slimpickin's @ The Tamworth Lyceum
If youve ever walked into the Tamworth Lyceum and felt as though you stepped back in time, Miss Maybell & Slimpickins wont spoil your imagination! The Lyceum is a cozy and intimate venue, tucked away in the historic village of Tamworth. The staff and management go above and beyond to set the mood and make these events memorable. Beer and wine are served and featured dinner specials and candle light add to the ambiance of the evening. Add Miss Maybells washboard and finger-style blues guitar from Slimpickins and you are pretty much in a speak easy from the 1920s! Miss Maybell and Slimpickins are a musical duo based in New England.They play American Roots,Jazz, Blues, Country, and Ragtime music from the 1920-40s, as well as classic original tunes. In addition to their regular calendar of gigs throughout New England, theyhave beenfeatured on TheCold River Radio Show, and aired on several New England Radio Stations. Wherever they play they bring smiles tothe faces of those around them, and are guaranteed to be like no other band you have ever seen before.
Slimpickins has been playing guitar for more than fifteenyears, and with his undying love for old music has truly mastered the classic finger-style blues guitar. Miss Maybell , has always had a deep love of music and has been singing , and playing one instrument or another for her whole life. She has a immense attachment to the great woman singers of the past such as Bessie Smith , Ella Fitzgerald , and Billie Holiday. With a Deep Contralto Voice and a firm musicality, she is fully equipped to execute the challenge of singing the great songs of the past.
