Get Folks Here: An Exclusive Sneak Preview of Folksbier
To get New York City's freshest beer you must head to taprooms, where breweries such as Other Half and Threes pour pints that are barely days old. But not every brewery is open to the public.
Except for today. On this spring afternoon, German- and European-inspired Folksbier will open its facility, where it's making some of the city's best, and most complex lagers and saisons--you know, what you want to drink when it's sunny and 70 degrees.
Haven't heard of Folksbier? You will soon. It's the brainchild of Travis Kauffman, a restaurant-industry veteran who's currently transforming part of the brewery into a tasting room. That'll come later this summer. For now, you'll be one of the lucky few to get an early peek--and taste--of Brooklyn's next great brewer, crushing his unfiltered Helles Simple lager, aromatic Morning Dew pale ale and more.
Better still, we'll be sizzling sausages for lunch (vegetarians, you'll be taken care of too). Consider this the world's best Saturday-afternoon brunch, starring endless beer and oodles of good eats.
