SONGWRITING: CATCH & RELEASE
Everyone has songs living within, ready to emerge. The mind may say, I cannot do this. The mind may say, Im not a musician. The mind may say, I cannot sing. The mind may say, Im just too shy. These things dont matter. What does matter is coming here, just as you are, and showing up to write and cast your lines deep into the stream of consciousness.
If you are already a songwriter, you may already know this and be eager to hone your skills, and fire up your creativity. The mind may say, This sounds so interesting, but is it for me? Even if you already think of yourself as a songwriter, I assure you, it is interesting, it is for you. This workshop is for everyone beginners and advanced.
At the end of our four hours together, we will have written and shared what weve written, and, together, well have made a small, beautiful thing called a song. Songs are made things. We will make nothing into something, sound out of silence, songs out of Soul.
Please bring paper upon which to write or a writing book, pen or pencil, a rhyming dictionary, a dictionary and thesaurus, and your beautiful sense of curiosity.
