Saturday, May 21st: open house from 4:00pm-8:00pm Performances will loop, run for the duration of the event, or repeat hourly so you may plan to attend any time.
Asuka Hisa has opened her doors to the creative process for the 15th event in the homeLA series. You are invited to share in the culmination of a development period in which Asuka's home and its history have become central to our creative work.
Melisa Dougherty, Johanna Breiding, Bernard Brown, Libby Buchanan, Maya Gingery, Terrence Luke Johnson, Emily Marchand, Zac Monday, Yann Novak, Marbles Jumbo Radio, Crystal SepĂșlveda, and Flexsus Studios will be presenting new works made in response to Asuka's home in Victoria Park in a durational live performance event.
homeLA is dance in private space open to the public since 2013. The project connects hosts with artists and provides a platform for independent dance, body-based, sound, and interactive media artists at various stages of their careers to develop new works and one-of-a-kind performances in response to the architecture and ethos of Los Angeles homes. During one to three month rehearsal periods in which the artists work collectively and consider some of the project's central questions:
how do we share space? how do we live differently in Los Angeles? what happens when we value creative process?
homeLA invites a mobile audience to private homes throughout the city to experience intimate live performance.
