Courting the Maid of the North
Professional tellers, Tim Ereneta of Berkeley and Cathryn Fairlee of Cotati, both participated in the telling of this epic four years ago. It is inspiring and we look forward to telling our favored episodes again.
The story inspired Tolkien to write the Lord of the Rings as well! The Kalevala is valued as the identity of the Finnish people. It deals with much magic, and the competition of courtship, and the creation of the kantele dulcimer.
