Dr. Cheng Li, director of research and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution's John L. Thornton China Center, and one of the world's premier experts on Chinese elite politics, reflects upon the highly anticipated succession of Chinese president Hu Jintao by current vice president Xi Jinping.
