More about our host:

Bainbridge Vineyards features 100% island grown, crushed, and bottled wine. BV is passionate about creating wine from the ground up. On seven acres of historic farmland, they tend to the rare and elegant varietals that thrive in the Puget Sound, and produce exceptional wine with authentic island heritage.

Here in the Maritime Northwest, the wines they produce are delicate, crisp, and fragrant whites, and complex, light-bodies reds. Their varietals include Madeleine Angevine, Müller-Thurgau, Siegerrebe, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir, as well as small plots of Zweigelt, Agria, and Dunkelfel.

Encompassing a rich history, the current vineyards date back to 1977, and surrounding farmland back to 1928. After original owners Gerard and JoAnn Bentryn, who founded the original Bainbridge Island Vineyards and Winery in 1977, retired, longtime friend and employee, Betsey Wittick reopened the vineyards and winery under new cooperative ownership in 2013.  Betsey holds a Masters degree in Horticulture from Cornell University, and began growing grapes and making wine with the Bentryns in 1989.  As winemaker and viticulturist at Bainbridge Vineyards, and as proprietor of small-scale vegetable operation Laughing Crow Farm, Betsey is committed to seeing local food production remain a viable livelihood and important asset to our community.

Per their website, 'Our winery's methods are intended to nourish our soil, our farm, and ourselves.  The vineyards were certified organic in 2014, and since then, we have started learning and applying biodynamic practices, as well.  We believe in a "whole systems" approach.  Everything on our farm is connected, from the animals we use to work the land, to the people we employ, and the communities around us.

We are looking forward to getting to know the folks behind Bainbridge Vineyards and Laughing Crow Farms, and they are looking forward to hosting us!
