The Bald Soprano
Boulevard Theatre continues our 30th anniversary season with acclaimed playwright Eugène Ionescos THE BALD SOPRANO at Milwaukees Plymouth Church (in the cozy second-floor Graham Chapel hall). This game-changing absurdist comedy tumbles us into a bizarre (and brilliant!) comic universe, where time is out of joint, language has misplaced its meaning, and identity itself is up for grabs. In this hilarious satire on ordinary life (British and otherwise), we meet the Smiths and their friends, the Martins. The Smiths reside in a typically British household on a typically British street, cheerfully entertaining typically British friends, in a world thats anything BUT typical. Both couples speak to each other at cross purposes, as the Smiths feisty maid and a loquacious local Fire Inspector jump into the Monty-Python wackiness. Hilarity ensues -- all in one act!
THE BALD SOPRANO was one of the Boulevard Theatres first offerings (about 1980). Our 2016 staging is a perfect way to cap our 30th anniversary season! Enjoy this wonderfully oddball comedy while knowing your attendance supports our mission of providing training, opportunity, and exposure to younger, emerging actors. Our talented cast includes Hugh Blewett, JJ Gatesman, Hannah Klapperich Mueller, Zoe Schwartz, Sasha Katherine Sigel, and Mitch Weindorf. Boulevard Artistic Director Mark Bucher directs this wild romp.
Tickets are also sold at the door. ONLY cash accepted at the door. Tickets range from $10 for Tuesday, April 26 @ 7:30 pm (opening night special!) to $15 (all other shows). Seating is unassigned, first come, first serve,, all at one level. No checks/no charge cards accepted at the door.
