Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is Janelle Blasdel, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Gubby Kubik, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, Ali Rose, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop Student Union, CSz Twin Cities - Home of ComedySportz, HUGE Theater, and Jesters Comedy Improv. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, they've heard the term "local music."
May guest: Well liked by all, former math whiz Erik Ostrom now sings songs made entirely of words and sounds and feelings. Sometimes these songs sound like rays of light from the setting sun as they fall upon a frozen lake, but louder. But not much louder. He lives around here, just like you.
