How To Make Your Own Soap
Have you ever wanted to be more self-sufficient? Are you all about the do-it-yourself disposition? Come to HiveBio, Seattle's premier do-it-yourself biology laboratory, and learn how to cook up a fresh batch of your own home-made soap for keeping yourself clean. This class is presented by University of Washington's own Kaelan Yu!
Using a few house-hold materials we'll show you how easy it is to make soap using Vegetable oil and stuff you can buy at the hardware store. No prior experience in chemistry is necessary! This class will cover the basics of organic chemistry, specifically reading molecular structure diagrams, understanding reaction types, functional groups and how organic chemists make our lives easier by utilizing organic chemistry techniques to forge new atomic bonds and make new molecules!
Students attending the class will be able to take home some soap.
The cost of the class is $25 per student, with a maximum class size of 9 participants. Pre-registration for this class is required!
