April Chapter Meeting: Understanding the General Conditions of a Construction Contract

A contracts General Conditions establish the responsibilities of, and relationship between, the architect, owner and contractor on a project. Undesirable results, disputes, claims, and unmet expectations may result from the failure of the project team to fully understand these relationships and responsibilities.

The General Conditions can provide a framework to help guide effective client communications, negotiations, and project management; all of which are necessary to efficiently and successfully carry out any project. Additionally, they provide guidelines for professional practices that promote the health, safety and welfare of project participants, building users and the community at large.

Join us for a detailed review and analysis of AIA Document A201-2007, General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, to discover the essential information that you should understand before you begin any project.
