Minnesota Law and Politics described Paul Metsa thusly, Like the Iron Range--and Dylan for that matter--Metsa is a hodge-podge of characters and performers. Hes a folksinger, a blues singer, a guitarist, a social activist, a Finn, a storyteller, a comedian, a philosopher, a conspiracy theorist, and a lounge lizard. In Blue Guitar Highway-The Musical! Metsa combines his various personalities and tells his no-holds-barred life story in vignettes and original songs. The show features his American musical journey from his hometown of Virginia, Minnesota, with legs west to Hollywood and east to New York City, as well as sojourns to Iceland, and Siberia (both without international incident), sharing stories of the musicians and interesting characters he has met along the way. At times a dark and perilous journey, at the end of the day its a story of perseverance, triumph over adversity, renewal, and rebirth. David Carr, late great columnist for the New York Times wrote in his foreword to Metsas book: This cat under the stars has lived countless lives, some of them borrowed, some of them spent, and has seen things others will never know. Metsa will be joined by his long time musical co-conspirators Sonny Earl (harmonica), the Sisters of Mercy (Mari Harris and Randi Starr Hudson-vocals) and Donnie LaMarca (piano.)
